help verify/refute last remaining 024.8 bug report

Hi LiteSteppers!

We have one remaining code bug left in the 0.24.8 Release Tracker!  We 
need help either confirming the issue, or refuting it.

Anyone using an asian character set, please take a look at:

And either respond to the issue report, or to this thread with your 
results and observations.
