That sample helps (thanks!) but takes the approach of registering via registry keys, and I just want the temporary (IInternetSession?) registration. Still, useful.

This demo is useful reference too, even if the code is in C#:

Still, I'm surprised... I figure this is a REALLY common thing that people do - amazing it isn't out as a demo somewhere! 

I'm not that great at COM but I'll give it a go.
