Desktop configuration

From time immemorial I had my desktop configured to display, instead of an icon for of picture files, a thumbprint of the image.

Since a recent system upgrade, my desktop now has smaller icons, with no images.

Could a kind soul remind me how to get back to the display I have grown used to ?
