Have you checked up on https://github.com/microsoft/linux-vm-tools[1] ? I have mirrored 
this repository at https://git.nixmagic.com/mir/linux-vm-tools[2] and forked it at https://
git.nixmagic.com/vim/linux-vm-tools[3] . Notably, this fork includes KDE Plasma and 
Debian 12 support. I would imagine that XFCE support would follow a similar method. If 
you'd like to work from any of these repositories and get it working under XFCE, please let 
me know. It would be nice if this would eventually target all major distributions and 
desktop environments.
