I'm trying to set the i945G to 1280x768@60Hz mode. I've found that the 
frequency is
52Hz and the syncs are wrong. But I do seem to have 1280x768 pixels.

Its not an EDID problem. In fact we are finding that we have to ignore 
EDID a lot of
the time as its either (1) Missing a supported mode or (2) just wrong.
