RH Linux 8.0 - Chips 69030 - Cursor and and keys freeze

On a new install, the pc will boot and the cursor and KBD freezes almost immediately. The same hardware and setting worked fine under RH 7.0 (XFree 4.01)
& 7.3 (XFree 4.2.0).

Any idea what the problem might be ?
