Hi, I just installed RedHat Linux on a Dell system with an intel 82845G/GL video card. XFree86 2.0 doesn't seem to support this card. So I downloaded RPM from the rawhide distribution with the name XFree86-4.2.99.2-0.20021122.2 This seems to support the 845 chipset through an i830 driver (somehow embedded in the i810 driver). But when I start up X, it only shows a blank screen, than crashes. The end of the server log is: Error in I830WaitLpRing(), now is 13819, start is 11818 pgetbl_ctl: 0xffe0001 pgetbl_err: 0x49 ipeir: 0 iphdr: 0 LP ring tail: 8 head: 0 len: 0 start 0 eir: 0 esr: 10 emr: ff7b instdone: ffc0 instpm: 0 memmode: 0 instps: 0 hwstam: ffff ier: 0 imr: ffff iir: 0 space: 65520 wanted 65528 (II) I810(0): [drm] removed 1 reserved context for kernel (II) I810(0): [drm] unmapping 8192 bytes of SAREA 0xd09b6000 at 0x40013000 Fatal server error: lockup I could send the whole log, but it's rather long. Anyway, what could be the problem? Is there support for this card under Linux? Thanks, Akos
