CRT/LCD Hot keys to switch display

I have a dell latitute 840 with a Mandrake9/XFree4 using 1600x1200
resolution.
When I switch between LCD/CRT it seems to work fine, but when i have tried
to use
LCD+CRT together, the resolution of the LCD becomes to 640x480. How can i
use the same
resolution togheter?
