Smeared text on virtual consoles

I'm not sure exactly what kind of information to provide so please bear with
me. Since upgrading the new radeon driver from ati my virtual consoles looks
like someone smeared the screen.When I shutdown the screen output is also
smeared. This is disconcerting because I like using the command prompt. My
system uses x ver.4.2.1 and the radeon driver 4.2.0-2.5.1 installe as a RPM.
If any additional info is required please post me.
