xterm with logging

I am running Linux SuSE 7.3 with kernel 2.4.19 and XFree 4.2.1.

I need to logon customer sites regularly and would like to log these sessions. For this, I would like to compile a 2nd version of xterm with logging enabled and no s bits (uid, gid). My default xterm should not be removed / overwritten.
The automated logon procedure we use will not allow me to use the 'script' executable for this purpose.

How can I achieve to get this feature ?
