sis 5597 flickering

i'm using the sis driver with a sis 5597 chipset but am seeing lots of
flickers and random pixels drawing all over the screen. the display is
useable but quite annoying. i would use the vesa driver but i can't seem
to achieve 75Hz refresh rate with it. is there any way of getting rid of
the blips??
