Hello. I apologize for requesting help on a development list, but I could
find no help at [email protected], I find no similar instance of my problem
through searching and I'm at my wits' end. I hope that someone here can help
me and that I'm not overstepping any bounds. In the event that I have not, I
shall detail the problem. If I am in error, just ignore me and I'll go
away. :)

I recently upgraded to Xfree86 4.3.0 and ever since that upgrade, I've had
some very strange problems with a few fonts. I believe they are all truetype
fonts. What happens is that, while the correct font is displayed (for
instance, Chancery L Ee looks pretty much like Chancery - which works fine
for some reason), all lowercase letters are displayed as uppercase and all
uppercase letters are displayed as symbols. In other words, a through z
(typed) becomes A through Z (displayed) and A through Z (typed) becomes the
following set of characters:

!"#$%&'()*+,-./0123456789:

An example of fonts this happens with are: Chancery L Ee, Arial, Bookman L Ee,
Century Schoolbook L Ee, Courier New and Gothic L Ee. As hinted at
previously, where there are two similar fonts, like Chancery L and Chancery L
Ee, the first displays just fine while the second (with the Ee) displays
wrong as described.

I have found this to be true in any KDE application where those fonts are
used, Mozilla and Open Office.org. Therefore, I cannot see where the problem
lies if not with Xfree86.

I hope someone can help with this, as I'm completely lost at this point.

Thank you,
Panther
