Font sizes different between two machines

Hello-

  I have two machines, one running 4.3.0 and one 4.3.0.1. Both run the same Linux distribution (Linux From Scratch), though with different kernel versions. Using the same fonts.conf/fonts.dtd/font files, I get two different point size scales: 9pt fonts on my desktop are 8pt on my laptop, and so on. Generally, fonts are one point bigger (and uglier) on my laptop than on my desktop.

  I've tried copying the same configuration files (as I mentioned before), including my ~/.fonts and ~/.fonts.conf directory/files. I've also tried simply copying the freetype and Xft library files from my desktop, with the same results.

  My fonts.conf is taken from Fedora Core 1, and my FreeType is version 2.1.5 wiDavid Chester's smooth hinting patch.

  Has anyone seen this before and/or is willing to help me fix it?
