The learning curve is not the problem, not with XFree 4.x. It took me two days to learn enough to fix the cyrix driver, and a day to learn to write input drivers. Its things like direct CVS access, preparedness for people to break stuff, rolling regular releases that concern me. The technical problem for core drivers was solved in XFree 4.0
