Unfortunately in my experience, emails like this usually end at about this 
point.  You can reply or not, but whatever effort goes into it is usually 
wasted.

When people post a patch or an informed-looking problem report, take them 
seriously & consider investing your own time in guiding their efforts.  When 
they say "here I am now, what should I start coding?", the best idea is to 
point them at a publicly hosted newbies-todo-list - chances are that's the 
last you'll hear of them.
