I can't help give a good laugh everytime I read comments such as

"<put-your-rant-target-here> is the biggest roadblock to linux being
deployed to the desktop to displace microsoft software",

or as one can usually read on SlashDot,

"the killer-app Linux needs to win the desktop is..."

If people actually *helped* open-source projects somehow, instead of
just chearing/bitching these projects as football fans do to their/other
teams, the world would be a better place. At least there would be less:
 - GNOME/KDE/<your-favorite-super-duper-desktop-environment-here> flames
 - RedHat/Suse/Mandrake/<the-linux-distro-of-the-day-here> flames
 - GPL/BSD/<the-ideal-license-here> flames
 - Linux/MacOSX/M$Windows/*BSD/<your-flawless-os-here> flames
 - and, worst of all, almost public lynching of people who, spite of
their shortcomings (we're all human), have done outstanding
   contributions to the community. (*)

It's just plain sick, and the general sense of anonimacy in the internet
seems to bring the worst of people out.

Serious proposals are always useful. Rants are no good. (**)
