That notwithstanding, X.org, under the aegis of The Open Group, "owns" X11. GNU/gcc don't get to redefine what ANSI C is by adding extensions to their compiler. Likewise, the definition of what the X Window System is comes from X.org and The Open Group. XFree86 is a member of X.org -- they should make a proposal when they're ready. -- Kaleb S. KEITHLEY
