On the one hand, it makes font discovery slower due to the SSL
handshake. On the other hand, with HTTP/1.1 there's no reason why the
handshake would need to be done more than once (except for Apache
imposing ridiculously low timeouts due to a flawed architecture).
I'd really like to hear of some real-world scenarios where remote font
access is required before I implement anything of the sort.
