What if you want to experiment with things that are very difficult with
the current toolkits, and the current protocol? Eg. nice animations, as
Havoc described in
http://xfree86.org/pipermail/forum/2003-March/000590.html ?

All I'm saying is that discouraging people to break the protocol is
discouraging people from experimenting.
