The X11 core protocol & Xlib API's are relatively static.
The proposed IPv6 changes are the first real change to the
X11 core protocol since the X11R6 version was written in 1994.
(Some keysyms were added to the keysym list since then, but
  that's the only other change to anything beyond the formatting
  in the docs.)
