Yep, I remember Bill very well and his series of articles in Dr Dobb's 
journal about 386BSD. It was what got me started understanding Unix and 
got me started on installing it on my machine all those years ago. The 
only thing that really bugged me at the time was reading all the cool 
articles but not being able to get hold of the source code! That is if I 
recall what caused the split and how we ended up with FreeBSD in the 
end...
