Actually that is not entirely true. We did it 3-4 years ago when we 
released the SciTech Nucleus drivers for Linux based on XFree86 3.3.x. We 
proved it could be done, but we didn't get a very good reception for the 
product and our OS/2 product took off at the same time and sapped all our 
resources. We are doing it again now with the new SciTech SNAP Graphics 
for Linux that we are about to start external beta testing with. This 
time around we are using XFree86 4 loadable modules and simply plug into 
existing XFree86 installations (ie: no need to upgrade your XFree86 
install just to get support for the latest Intel Springdale chipsets for 
instance ;-). One of the biggest problems we had with the 3.3.6 server 
was customisations that people had in their servers that got lost when we 
installed our server, and the XFree86 4 module system has completely 
eliminated those issues for us.

Just curious, but what exactly is XGGI? I don't know much about it these 
days (gave up following GGI 3 years ago or so ;-), but I always figured 
it was an XFree86 module that used GGI (like our drivers are). Is that 
not the case?
