Lets ask the obvious question  "What if XFree86 think X11R6.7 sucks".
The compressed version of the technical side seems to be "we change
contractor". Since its more efficient to have one practical tree this
seems to make sense but still needs the work to be funded for things
like merges somehow.

Also how do the other vendors who work direct from base X11R6.7 (and
the current contractor) feel.
