There's nothing stopping you. Isn't this precisely what prompted the entire discussion we find ourselves embroiled in? A group of people didn't like the direction and wanted to fork. I thought I heard earlier a desire to prevent the fork and a willingness to listen to and address the concerns that prompted the desire to fork, this seems to me a positive approach that I applaud the XFree86 team for. A few days ago it was stated the XFree86 team wanted to contemplate the issues for a few days and would issue a collective response. I think most folks think this is a very important next step and are waiting to see how it plays out and are hoping it has a different tenor than expressed above, which I do understand might have just been personal frustration and understandable given recent events.
