If you are talking about a proper fix for the the work-around
suggested in
	http://www.xfree86.org/pipermail/neomagic/2002-June/001068.html
then I think something has happened.

xfree86/common/xf86pciBus.c -r3.54 (2002/08/27 22:07:06 tsi)
changes CardBus support in a way which looks relevant.

I haven't tried this on my laptop yet, so don't know whether it works.
(The work-around did work for me).
