neomagic 256AV/3com 3c575_cb problem

Hello,

I am having trouble getting my Neomagic 256AV and 3com 3c575_cb to work 
together. Whenever I start X with the PCMCIA card inserted, I get a blank 
screen and the computer locks up. I assume this has something to do with the 
IRQ sharing, as both deviced (as well as the sound card and a bunch of other 
things) all share IRQ 9. If I eject the PCCard, X starts up fine.

This is on Gentoo 1.4 ( I was having the same problem with Gentoo 1.2), with 
pcmcia-cs-3.2.1 and xfree-4.2.0.

which seems to be the exact same problem, but there was no resolution at the 
end of the thread. Did anything come of this?
