Occasional crash with NM2200 (HP Omnibook 4150)

Hi there,

I have an HP Omnibook 4150 laptop with the nm2200 graphics chipset.
First of all thanks to all the people that have contributed to this
driver... your work is very much appreciated!

In general the X server works OK, but I have some problems:

1. Switching resolutions (with Alt+Ctrl+KP_plus/KP_minus) often (but not
always) locks the machine hard (not even a response to the Alt+SysRq key
on linux).

2. Sometimes (quite rarely) the X server deadlocks taking 90-100% of CPU
and I have to reboot the machine. I think it is related to scrolling
and/or popup menus.

3. I often see the "(II) NEOMAGIC(0): Not programming shadow registers"
message. Is this an indication of some problem?

I have been looking on the list archives but I've seen no clear answer
to these problems. Are there any options that cure these problems?

I'm currently using XFree 4.2.0-6.52 (RedHat's) on a RedHat Linux 7.2
installation.

I attach my config and X log.

I would also like to know if there is a way to switch between internal
and external screen without restarting the X server or using the Fn+F6
key combo (i.e. some command line utility that signals the X server to
switch).

Thanks in advance,

Diego
