problem with Xserver

Hi,

i have installed redhat 7.2 on my embeded pc which has 32MB of Ram and a 300
MHz processor.
i use windowmaker as the window manager. 

my problem is that some parts of the screen can not be seen. when i open a
terminal, i cannot read what i write. i used to use kde and similar problems
did exist.
so is it a problem related to the configuration of xserver? or resources?
but when i lokk with 'free', i can see unused memory.
