 I have a Via C3 processor and I am having problems installing Mandrake 9.0. I have had an email off a clever guy who has told me to find the following: 

a stock kernel(version 2.4.19-xx) with the 
"Processor Family = CONFIG_MCYRIXIII" value set as just mentioned.
