Re: X-window problem: same XF86Config file, under root and user name, behaves differently, RedHat 8.0

As Hans replied you should NOT (rather than you need not) copy an XF86Config file around (unless
you are consciously generating a new configuration).
I suspect that the problem lies with your .Xclients or .xinitrc (not sure about spelling, my linux
machine has been floating belly up these last few days - nothing to do with linux... just
installing new hardware, it's Christmas after all;^)
To make things more amusing .Xclients is probably a symlink to .Xdefaultclients ...
There you will find the call to one of your prefered window manager, if not add one (you will find
it in the version of the file in your home directory since everything seems to work from there...)
