Updating 4.2.0 to 4.2.1

Any short and dirty common reasons why a working 4.2.0 configuration
would stop working with "libextmod.a is unresolved!" messages simply by
updating to 4.2.1?

I'm using a Dell Inspiron 8200 Laptop with a 32MB NVidia Geforce 2 Go
card running the 1.0-3123 drivers.

I tried upgrading the NVidia drivers to the latest but that didn't seem
to help.  Can't find any decent archives for this list so I wasn't able
to look very far back for prior occurrences of this problem.

Again, if this is a known problem with an easy fix, please let me know
-- otherwise I'll break the my system again and get the logs and configs
for everyone, but don't want to if I don't have to.
