Xft uses FreeType2 to rasterize glyphs; I suggest that the appropriate 
place to add sbits support is down in the rasterizer library so that all 
font consumers could get access to that.

FreeType is a pretty clean library, it might take only a short time to 
figure out how it could support sbits.
