The code is rather fresh, you'll be best off running out of XFree86 CVS if 
you want to play with it.  x11perf and xclock both have code demonstrating 
how the new Render extension pieces are used, although neither of them 
have line drawing of any kind.  xclock draws arbitrary polygons using a 
primitive tesselation algorithm in the Xrender library while x11perf draws 
only raw trapezoids.
