Converting an Xlib app to Xft

Hello all,

First, let me thank everyone for Xft and the Render extension. Opera looks so 
much nicer with antialiased fonts. 

I'd like to patch some applications that I use to use Xft. My X programming 
is non-existant. Is there a good place to get started? How difficult might I 
find converting an Xlib application to Xft? Anything to beware?
