Ok. Well, the reason I ask is that I know very little about X window
programming, but wanted to see if I could write programs that run on X but
pretty much ignore X's actual *windowing* functionality, instead using an X
Render area as a kind of framebuffer or canvas. Like I said, I know very
little X API, but I am somewhat familiar with the basic ideas; how steep do
you think the learning curve would be to be able to just create an X Render
area and draw on it?
