keyboard window switching raise-on-alt-release?

I recently came back to WMaker (now using v0.90.0 on cygwin) after some time away and looks like things have change w.r.t. keyboard window switching: When I use Alt-Tab combo to get "next window", I can cycle happily hitting Tab repeatedly while holding down Alt and all windows stay in their existing z-order (I'm aware of the auto-raise option). When I finally release Alt, the window that I last selected will pop to the foreground. This is what I don't like. I want to be able to focus next window with keyboard and NOT have it come to fore unless I say so (with another keyboard combo). Is this still possible in WMaker 0.90.0+? Thanks for any help!
