How to resize windows when they exceed screen boundaries

Greetings

Does anyone know how to resize (in this case reduce) a window if its 
borders are invisible as a result of the window being larger than the 
screen?

What I am talking about is not the temporary solution, ie. maximising 
the window and then grabbing the resize bar and so on, but resizing the 
"unmaximised" window which, paradoxically, is larger than the 
"maximised" window.

What gave rise to this query is something that I find extremely 
irritating and that is the tendency of some web page designers to 
include code which maximises the browser window without asking for the 
user's permission. Since such brain-dead designers abound, however, and 
so I am sitting with a Firefox browser that insists on opening in fully 
maximised mode every time I start it up. All I need to do is resize it 
and save my session and then WindowMaker will, I hope, cause it to open 
as a smaller window the next time. It may be that Firefox has some sort 
of "memory" so that it opens at the same size that it was closed at the 
last time, I'm not sure.

Any ideas?
