sound and windowmaker

I'm using WindowMaker and running a p2p x application
when my girlfriend logs in I use the "gdmflexiserver" to bring up a new 
login screen
this way I don't have to log out and shut down my p2p app

now when she logs in her KDE starts as normal but with an error can't stat 
sound server
and when she tries to play an music file with xmms there is an error
"Please check if:
the sound card is configured properly
no other program is blocking the sound card"

when she tries to start alsamixer or kmix from her terminal she gets error : 
"function snd_ctl_open failed for default: Permission denied"  She does not 
get these errors when she starts xmms or alsamixer after she su to root

When I log in as ROOT after opening a new logging screen with 
"gdmflexiserver" everything is working fine
when my girlfriend loges in after I log out everything is working fine

I has to do something with WM , It must be blocking the sound card
I installed WM from RPM and it is the version 0.91.0

Can anybody help with this?
