Ugly Menu Fonts in Fedora Core 3

I'm running the WindowMaker 0.91 rpm from the DAG distribution on Fedora Core 3, and the fonts in my apps menus are very large and ugly. Is there anything I can do about this? I saw a note in the archives about a gtk-settings-daemon, but I don't have such a thing.
