Saving Window Maker configuration without restarting

Greetings

Window Maker is my main window manager, but I notice sometimes it crashes and
restarts itself. Usually this is not a big deal, but what is troublesome is
that when it restarts, my configuration (like appicon placements) gets reset
to the last-saved configuration. I was wondering if there is a way to
periodically save the configuration, but without restarting the window
manager. I do not mean the "Save Session" option in the menu; I know about
that already. I'm talking about saving the configuration which is normally
offered as a choice on exit. Since I leave my system on and logged in all the
time, I'd like to to be able to save periodically without exiting. If I can
do this, then wmaker can crash and restart all it wants, and we'll both be
happy. (:
