AfterSteps docs at www.afterstep.org mentions howto replace dtwm with afterstep you just need to replace afterstep with wmaker

you should run wmaker.inst as 'bash wmaker.inst' 
since suns /bin/sh is not a link to bash (at least i wasnt before)
i think that will allow it to run
