wmmsg

I am planning on running wmmsg and am looking for some advice.

I see that it supposedly will let you know of system events, such as im, 
and other things that are specified using wmmsg_notify.

Exactly how would I tie gaim, or anything with wmmsg. I can find near no 
  information on that topic?

Or does anyone recommend another such dockapp that will do the job?
