JET BOIL REVIEW BY TROY S. PELZEL OR February 23, 2015 TESTER INFORMATION NAME: Troy S. Pelzel EMAIL: [email protected] AGE: 45 LOCATION: Bixby, Oklahoma U.S. GENDER: m HEIGHT: 6' 0" (1.80 m) WEIGHT: 192 lb (87.10 kg) I got into backpacking about seven years ago when a friend took me to the Boston Mountains which is part of the Ozarks in Arkansas. I routinely go hiking in the Ozarks which includes river crossings, steep terrain, bouldering, bushwacking as well as maintained and primitive trails. I prefer overnight backpacking especially when the whether is cold. PRODUCT INFORMATION Manufacturer: jetboil Year of Manufacture: 2012 Manufacturer's Website: <<www.jetboil.com>> MSRP: US$ 99.00 Listed Weight: 14 oz (400 g) Measured Weight: ?? oz (?? g) Other details: Jetboil is a personal cooking system that is self contained in its own canister. It is powered by a 100g propane/isobutane canister. FIELD USE I took my Jetboil backpacking with me to the Upper Buffalo Wilderness area in Arkansas on a cold Thanksgiving weekend last year. While the temperature stayed below 40 degrees all weekend the whether stayed pretty stable. I backpacked down into a hollow below a waterfall and set up my camp. I used the Jetboil for the first time to cook flavored noodles for dinner. I filled the canister to the fill line which is about 2 cups of water. In just over 2 minutes I had boiling water for my noodles. The ease of use is amazing! Simply screw the fuel canister to the base, place the canister on the base and turn and it simply locks in. Turn the fuel on and push the self igniter button and that is it. You actually have to be on your toes because in no time the water will really start boiling hard. I like the fact that you can hold the canister in your hand with boiling water in it and the protective sleeve keeps your hand from burning. The Jetboil was very easy to clean and the next morning I used it to make coffee. SUMMARY The Jetboil is a must have for any backpacker. It delivered just as its namesake suggests. Compact, durable, super efficient. I can't immagine not having this cook system in my backpack.! THINGS I LIKE I love how everything you need for the Jetboil is all contained within itself. The fuel can, coffee press, and base all fit snugly inside the main container with the lid on top and the extra measuring cup on the bottom. THINGS I DON'T LIKE * SIGNATURE Troy S.
