Backpacking Background: I started backpacking acouple years ago in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness of Washington state. Themajority of my trips are weekends in and around the central Cascade Mountains.I’m a three season hiker and don’t encounter much snow or subfreezing temperatures.Last summer I took a month long canoe trip and hitchhiked across the countryusing my same backpacking gear in unorthodox environments.

d. I have had this pot for a number of years andhave probably cooked in it more than any other pot in my life, including onesin my kitchen. I have used it in the mountains while backpacking, in the rivervalleys while canoeing, in the high desert of Nevada, and in the back of my vanwhere I currently live as a ski bum in subfreezing temperatures. I haverecommended this pot set to a number of friends, a few of them ended uppurchasing it. Although it is not the lightest in comparison to titanium, Ifind this pot to be well worth the price. It’s extremely simple constructionallows for intuitive and simple use. Though it doesn’t boil water as fast as aJetBoil, I was eating before my friend as she couldn’t figure out how to put aJetBoil together. It’s about as basic as basic gets. It works well for mealsfor two (as long as your friend has a cup or someone eats out of the pot).
The sporkit comes with is basically useless. It broke after only a few uses and you haveto be careful or it will jab your thumb as you collapse it. The non-stickfinish has also started to come off after a while (months of continuous use)and the rivets on the handle become loose as time goes on. But as an ultralightproduct, durability has been compromised for weight.
