My hiking locations are normally wet and windy, terrain is high moorland into mountainous areas. To use, first make sure your gas canister has enough fuel, make sure the Pocket Rocket's flame adjuster is fully closed then screw the stove to your canister. To ignite, open the flame adjuster and use a match or lighter on top of the stove.
 Field conditions After using different stove systems for a couple of years I purchased the PocketRocket in 2011, it has since become my "go-to" stove for use on all trips in the United Kingdom. I have used the stove with various pots and pans on day walks, multiday hikes and while car camping.  Temperatures have ranged from 2 C to 23 C (35 F to 42 F), elevation has been from sea level to 800 m (2600 ft) and I've used the stove in a whole range of weather from wind and rain to calm sunshine. Review I found the PocketRocket's listed boil time of 3.5 minutes for 1 litre (34 fl oz) accurate and achieved similar times when using the stove in sheltered conditions. This has been achieved numerous times with fuel from the same brand along with several others. When it's been windy the boil time has increased as the lack of compatibility with a wind burner means a drop in efficiency.
The stove is very easy to use and screws on to gas canisters even with a heavy glove on, using the flame adjuster is easy with gloves on too and allows for the stove to be used for more than just boiling water. Although hot spots develop in the centre of pans it does allow for some cooking to happen.
A note on the safety element of the stove, as with all canister-topped stoves balancing a pot of boiling water on the stove on rough ground can be difficult, I found it necessary to hold on to the pot while using the stove in these conditions.
The durability of the stove has been excellent and after 5 years of use it hasn't required cleaning or maintenance and is still operating as good as new.
The packability and lightness of the stove make it an easy item to take on all adventures, the hard case has deformed slightly over the years but with a bit of persuading the stove still fits inside.
 Summary To conclude, the PocketRocket is a great lightweight, powerful stove.
