DEET damage to various plastics (was physical barrier...)

I was surprised recently to be unable to find on the web a systematic analysis of DEET's effects on various plastics and other synthetics.  Can anyone point me to one?
Thanks!
Best,
Bill

I have started using the "Gear Smart" repellant (from Repel, I think), with picaridin.  It seems to be as effective as moderate concentrations of deet, without the synthetic material damage.

I'd second the testing and have treated my head nets with permithrin as well.

I do want to comment on a few suggestions being offered.  First is spraying DEET on items.  Please test first.  DEET destroys some plastics and maybe latex.
