Re: Sawyer Water Filter

I had mentioned in passing in a discussion of Inertial, Sawyer issues.  Personally, whether there is an alternative bag or not, if someone is out and about and the bag fails them.  That is a problem.  Not every person reads boards and is hip to every conceivable gear issue.  As a matter of fact I didn't know the bag issue was a known issue as well as the washer on the filter not always staying put.  If one is truly worried about water purification, I am not certain these are filters that can be relied on for 99.9 %.  In addition, the thing that I find telling about reviews, say on REI, isn't the actual wording of the reviews or the rating a person gives a product, but the friend suggestion.  Sawyer bag only has a 67% suggestion of telling friends.  

I was on a trip when the bag issue arose, then when I was contemplating the fix, buying another bag, I realized that I am done with that logic.  I bought the Sawyer to be the method, not a Sawyer and an evernew or platy. I think my main lesson is simply wait on a new product before purchasing.  Time is the ultimate arbitrater of quality.
