Didn't mention that I am a four season tarp camper, just upgraded to cuben fiber. I only set up a tarp when weather threatens or for mosquito protection, haven't slept in a sealed tent in years. Also I spend an average of more than 75 nights a year sleeping out, never had a problem with bugs. Have backpacked in the Grand Canyon, the Santa Catalina Mts. north of Tucson, and the Sahaura National Monument east of Tucson, now spend most of my time in the Sierra Nevada Mts.

If you use the Haven blanket the way it is designed to be used, strapped to a sleeping pad there wouldn't be any opening for critter intrusion. You could also use it in conjunction with a bivy. That would give you the security you have with a zipped bag.

I just like the freedom of a tarp and blanket, being able to get up without having to unzip anything.

No, I have not triether theatens oe for mpsquitod the Therm-a-Rest bag yet (and though REI has it in-stock for mail-order sales, they do not have it in stores to try out). I am considering purchasing it and was asking for recommendations; I can't even find an online review.
