Interesting, I didn't know there was two NeverWets. Like so much else, it seems expensive for what you get. They clearly show a phone being treated, but, they say *not* to do electronics. Unless you have a need for this, I sort of doubt there is that much use for camping gear. Pots, dishes, stoves, don't care if they get wet. It will not work on fabrics. You cannot use it on high abrasion areas, so backpacks, shoes, are out. Hats are of course dependent on the type, but fabrics are out, leather hats may work, I'm not sure they qualify as a hard surface. And so on... 

I think I will wait for the fabric version, that can be used on electronics. Most of my lights, are sealed, hence weigh more than unsealed counterparts. My phone is sealed, hence weighs more. My GPS is sealed. My pants and shoes would be nice if they were sealed, but apparently, this stuff will seal them. A simple photon light weighs about 10grams. My sealed light weighs about 25grams. If I can use non-sealed versions, I can cut the weight of all this stuff by about 4-5oz...significant.

You really don't need to do silnylon (unless it is worn and starting to leak.) I was hoping for a super-high quality DWR to do cloths, hats, etc. Mostly to prevent the Adirondack Mist from penetrating, that I encounter often in the mountains. On my last trip, I was totally soaked in the morning from rain & mist. Rain gear didn't seem to help all that much, since it was beyond 4-5 hours of light heavy-fog like drizzle.

I ordered it last week.  The one that is available now is for hard surfaces.  It applies as a two layer spray paint.  The one for fabrics has yet to be released.  I was told they were looking for a exclusive deal with a single company like they did with Home Depot.  So hopefully soon we'll have the version that we can apply to silnylon and the like.
