It has some phenomenal hiking and camping especially on the eastern side. It also is known for its herds of elk. Last time I was there at elevation, it was very, very windy, so much so that the wind burned my face. It was relatively warm outside, but I should have brought a balaclava for warmth but also just to protect my skin. Arches and Canyonland National Parks are also just off I-70, closer to I-15= . If you've never driven across Utah, realize that it's quite desolate between Grand Junction, CO and Salina, UT. Make sure you stop at Green River, UT to fill up on gas because it will be about another 100 miles before you get back to civilization.
